Lee Health began in 1916 when community leaders built the first hospital in Fort Myers. It was originally built using dismantled wooden materials from a courthouse in downtown Fort Myers. From those early days, we’ve continuously expanded to meet the healthcare needs of our community. For more than a century, Lee Health has been rooted in Southwest Florida, building a lasting legacy of care and commitment.

Today, our health system includes acute care and specialty hospitals, skilled nursing units, urgent care centers, pediatric facilities, outpatient centers, and more. Below are some fast facts about our health system:

Lee Health’s acute care hospitals are the core of our health system, delivering exceptional care to our community.

Specialty Hospital

Golisano Children’s Hospital is a nationally recognized specialty hospital dedicated to pediatric care. From critical care to complex specialties, this hospital provides services designed to meet the unique needs of children in Southwest Florida.

The Rehabilitation Hospitals

Lee Health has partnered with Encompass Health to provide advanced inpatient rehabilitation services.

Skilled Nursing Units

Our skilled nursing units provide short-term rehabilitation and transitional care for patients recovering from surgery, illness, or injury ensuring a safe and supported return home.

Outpatient Centers 

We offer eight outpatient services including primary care, imaging, lab services, women's health, rehabilitation and more. Click on one of the facilities to learn more.

Urgent Care Locations

If you are experiencing a minor condition or sickness our urgent care locations are conveniently located for our local residents.

Pediatric Outpatient Facilities 

Children's health is essential to overall family wellbeing and safety. We have outpatient centers for residents in Naples and Port Charlotte.

Cancer Institute in Southwest Florida

Lee Health is proud to provide lifesaving diagnosis and treatment options for cancer patients in Southwest Florida.

Heart Institute in Southwest Florida

Lee Health has the largest cardiology department in the area and can provide lifesaving surgeries for cardiothoracic patients.

Musculoskeletal Institute

Lee Health recently established the region’s first Musculoskeletal Institute, offering specialized care for injuries and disorders affecting the muscles, bones, joints, and nerves of the limbs and spine.

Healthy Life Centers and Health Club Locations:

Lee Health has partnered with WellWay in Cape Coral to strengthen wellness services in these communities. We also have our Healthy Life Center (HLC) at Coconut Point for the residents in Estero, Bonita Springs, and Naples.

  • Healthy Life Center - Coconut Point: Located within the Lee Health Coconut Point facility, the HLC offers a variety of services and education that support healthy lifestyles, early detection of disease, and chronic disease management. This facility includes a teaching kitchen, multiple education spaces, holistic treatment rooms, a teaching garden, and a yoga and meditation studio.
  • WellWay Cape Coral: A full-service health club with a personalized approach. This facility offers a wide range of services and programs for the entire family, including cardio and strength equipment, an indoor pool, pickleball courts, group fitness and yoga classes, and more.
