Kristin Nelson, OD, is a dedicated pediatric optometrist at Lee Health who is passionate about helping children succeed by ensuring their vision supports their overall development. She understands that many young patients, including babies and toddlers, may not be able to verbalize visual concerns, so she specializes in identifying subtle signs of eye conditions. Dr. Nelson strives to make every eye exam a fun-filled and comfortable experience, creating a welcoming environment where children feel at ease. With clinical interests in failed vision screenings, general comprehensive eye exams, refractive errors (hyperopia, myopia, astigmatism), myopia management, amblyopia, strabismus, accommodative and vergence dysfunctions, ocular injuries, and infections, Dr. Nelson is skilled in diagnosing and treating a wide range of pediatric vision issues. She is also experienced in working with special populations, ensuring that all children receive the individualized care they need to thrive. Dr. Nelson completed her graduate studies at the Southern College of Optometry in Memphis, TN, and her internship at the Captain James A. Lovell Federal Health Center. She believes in the importance of early intervention and collaborates closely with families and other healthcare professionals to optimize her patients’ vision and overall well-being.
